Privacy Policy

For the Swami Puja Android app. Last updated 12 August 2026.

The short version

Swami Puja asks for your mobile number to create your account, and does not show ads. There are no advertising or analytics trackers in the app. Beyond your number, we collect only the few things needed to remember your preferences, to give you the content in your language, and — only if you subscribe — to take a payment.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.

What we collect

Your mobile number. Signing in to the app requires a mobile number, which we verify by SMS one-time password. It is held by Firebase Authentication and is what identifies your account: it is how your preferences and any subscription come back to you when you reinstall the app or change phones, and — if you subscribe — it is the number our payment provider requires for the UPI Autopay mandate. We do not ask for your name, email or Google account.

Your choices in the app. Your content language, the deities you follow, your favourites, recently viewed items, your daily-open streak, and your settings (dark mode, notifications on/off, English menus). These are stored against your account so they survive reopening or reinstalling the app.

Subscription and access status. Whether your access is active, when it expires, whether it came from a payment, a promo code or a free-trial offer, and a record that a given promo code was redeemed on your account (so the same code cannot be reused on the same account).

Payment information — handled by Cashfree, not by us. Payments and UPI Autopay mandates are processed by Cashfree Payments. Your UPI ID, bank details and card details are entered with them, never in our app, and we never receive or store them. We receive only the outcome: that a mandate was authorised or cancelled, and that a payment succeeded or failed.

Notifications. If you turn on notifications, your device subscribes to a broadcast topic for the twice-daily reminder. We do not keep a list of individual device tokens, and reminders are the same for everyone — they are not personalised or targeted.

What we do not collect

  • No advertising identifiers, and no ads.
  • No analytics, tracking or crash-reporting SDKs.
  • No location data.
  • No contacts, call logs or SMS content.
  • No photos or files from your device. Wallpapers you set and ringtones you save are written on your device only.
  • No microphone or camera access.

Permissions the app asks for, and why

Internet. To load content and to talk to our own backend.

Set wallpaper. To apply a wallpaper you have chosen.

Notifications (Android 13+). Only to show the daily reminder, and only if you turn it on.

Modify system settings. Optional. Granted through a system screen, and used only to set a chant as your ringtone or alarm tone in one tap. The app works without it.

Read audio media (Android 13+). To read back a ringtone the app has saved to your device so it can be set as your tone.

Who we share information with

We use a small number of service providers, and only for the purposes below. They are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

  • Google Firebase — mobile-number sign-in and SMS verification, the database that stores your preferences, and notification delivery.
  • Cashfree Payments — processing subscription payments and UPI Autopay mandates. They receive your mobile number and the amount.
  • Cloudflare — hosting and delivering the images and audio the app displays.
  • Vercel — hosting our backend.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to do so.

Where your information is stored

Our database and backend are operated by the providers above and may store and process information on servers outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. Payment information stays with Cashfree Payments in India.

How long we keep it

Your preferences and access status are kept while your account exists, so that your choices and any subscription remain available to you. Records of payments and promo redemptions are kept as long as needed for accounting and to prevent abuse. If you uninstall the app without asking for deletion, your account and its record remain, so that signing in again with the same number restores them.

Deleting your information

You can ask us to delete everything associated with your account — preferences, favourites, verified mobile number and access record — by emailing harshdbugger@gmail.com. We will action it within 30 days. Deleting your data ends any active subscription access and cannot be undone.

To stop future payments without deleting anything, cancel from Settings → Manage Subscription in the app, or remove the autopay permission in your UPI app.

Children

Swami Puja is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
